Researchers from De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) presented the findings of their study, “Preliminary Assessment of Gypsum Board Recycling in the Philippines: Environmental Impact, Waste Management Landscape, and Traceability Framework,” to representatives of Japanese company GYXUS.
Conducted by College of Professional and Graduate Studies Vice Dean Dr. Leo Manansala, Arch. Antonio Gutierrez, and Mr. Eric Vargas, the study examined the country's current gypsum board waste management practices and explored opportunities for recycling and sustainability.
The research assessed the environmental impact of gypsum board waste and proposed a traceability framework to help track waste from disposal to potential recycling. The project is part of the ongoing partnership between DLSU-D and GYXUS established through a Memorandum of Agreement signed last year.
GYXUS President and Chief Executive Officer Tomitaro Hirata attended the presentation, underscoring the collaboration's commitment to advancing sustainable waste management solutions.
