The Forensic Science Program Council brought three CCJE alumni back to De La Salle University-Dasmariñas on September 16 for Tracing Success: Discovering Opportunities Beyond the Degree, a seminar at the Severino delas Alas Hall on the careers open to forensic science graduates. Between them, the speakers have taken the degree into paralegal work, the NBI Firearms and Toolmarks Identification Division, and medical school.
Ma. Adelaine Cortaga Buriel, a certified paralegal and active volunteer, spoke alongside John Paul De Guzman Ureta, now with the NBI Firearms and Toolmarks Identification Division, and Sherry Lynn Mae Aguilar, who shifted from forensic science to medicine and is now a medical student.
Each speaker traced their own route after graduation, the challenges they met along the way, and what they learned about the work available to forensic science graduates.
Exhibits set up for the seminar laid out forensic career pathways and brought in review centers for the civil service examination and medical admission tests. Sessions on stress management and on-the-job training preparation completed the program.
For DLSU-D, the seminar continues its work on quality education and employment readiness, placing students in direct contact with alumni and outside institutions before they move from the classroom to the profession.
