When the DLSU-D College of Law welcomed its first batch of students in August 2024, it also ushered in a new vision of legal education under its founding dean, Atty. Mary Jude C. Marvel, a partner at DivinaLaw.
Rooted in the Lasallian tradition of faith, service, and mission, Atty. Marvel champions a supportive and empowering environment—one that produces not only bar passers, but also socially responsible lawyers driven by justice and community impact.
Her leadership draws from an impressive professional journey spanning academia, law practice, and international arbitration. Atty. Marvel previously served as Associate Dean of the University of Negros Occidental Recoletos School of Law, a legal specialist for the Asian Development Bank, and a law clerk for the Supreme Court of the Philippines, among many other roles. She also shared her expertise as a mediator in Metropolitan New York, a facilitator for the European Commission, and a legal adviser in the banking sector.
Beyond practice, she is a prolific academic. Her works on arbitration, mediation, governance, and international law have been published in leading journals and by Cambridge University Press. She earned her Master of Laws in Dispute Resolution from the University of Missouri-Columbia as the Rankin M. Gibson Scholar and top student, following her law degree from Arellano University and an undergraduate degree in Child Development Education from the University of the Philippines Diliman.
Now at the helm of DLSU-D’s newest college, Atty. Marvel blends her vast expertise with a progressive vision: to nurture an environment that inspires students to become socially responsible lawyers
