De La Salle University-Dasmariñas formally installed Br. Iñigo Riola FSC, EdD, as its 10th president in a ceremony attended by university officials, administrators, dignitaries, and members of the Board of Trustees.
The investiture featured performances by the DLSU-D Chorale and Orchestra, invocations by Lasallian Brothers, and the reading of the appointment by Board Chair Atty. Ponciano V. Cruz Jr., who also administered the oath of office.
Br. Gus L. Boquer FSC, EdD, imposed the presidential medallion, and Br. Edmundo Fernandez FSC handed over the university mace, symbolizing the transfer of leadership. Br. Riola then delivered his inaugural address, outlining his vision for the university’s future.
In his speech. Br. Riola underscored five main priorities of his leadership including Mission-centered Renewal, Academic Excellence and Institutional Recognition, Campus Development and Student Experience, Operational Excellence and Financial Sustainability, and Collaborative Leadership and Network Advantage.
“Alongside these five priorities, we must also strengthen our culture as a community. We need to rebuild trust, choose respect, and nurture appreciation and accountability. It will not be easy, but together, it is possible,” he said.
He also reflected on the mission of Catholic universities, and the reminder of Pope Francis that university’s strength does not lie only in excellent programs, modern facilities, or sound management, but in a deeper passion, a shared search for truth and meaning, lived in a community where love is generous and visible.
“That is my hope for De La Salle University–Dasmariñas: that in all our planning and building, in our teaching and research, the generosity of love may be felt, and the light of God’s wisdom may guide us forward,” he concluded.
