De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) actively participated in the nationwide commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the People Power Revolution. Representing the university, the DLSU-D delegation joined the "Tayo ang People Power @40" program, which marked the historic occasion with a series of events at the People Power Monument along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA).
Organized by civil society groups under the Trillion Peso March Movement Against Corruption & Political Dynasties, the program featured a prayer march, cultural presentations, and a main program that highlighted the significance of the People Power Revolution in shaping the country’s democracy.
In anticipation of the anniversary, DLSU-D’s Campus Ministry Office organized a special morning prayer at the Ayuntamiento de Gonzalez lounge, reflecting on the theme, “Tayo ang People Power: EDSA@40 Noon, Ngayon, at Bukas.” The prayer activity, which will continue every other Monday until May, invited the community to reflect on the enduring lessons of faith, unity, and courage from the EDSA People Power Revolution.
Following the morning prayer, DLSU-D also marked the occasion with a Holy Eucharist, celebrated in gratitude for the lasting impact of the People Power Revolution. As part of this special mass, the lighting of 40 candles symbolized the university’s continued commitment to uphold the values of truth, justice, and peace — values that were central to the revolution and remain integral to the Lasallian mission.
Rev. Fr. Ren Dumaop, the University Chaplain, along with University President, Br. Iñigo Riola, FSC, led the candle lighting ceremony, which brought together the DLSU-D community in a moment of solidarity and reflection.
As part of the week’s activities, the university also launched KWENTOJUAN: Synodal Listening Circles for Young Lasallians. This initiative provided a grace-filled space for students to share their thoughts, reflect on the lessons of EDSA, and listen to each other’s voices in a meaningful way. It was a moment of spiritual connection, fostering dialogue and deeper understanding among students, as they collectively sought to live out the spirit of EDSA in their personal and academic lives.
As DLSU-D continues its Lasallian mission, the commemoration of EDSA @40 was not only a reflection of the past, but also a call to action for the future. The university remains steadfast in its dedication to nurturing leaders who are equipped to stand for integrity, truth, justice, and peace. Through these meaningful events and activities, DLSU-D honors the legacy of the People Power Revolution while actively contributing to the ongoing work of building a just and peaceful society.
