De La Salle University–Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) recently conducted a series of fire extinguisher training sessions as part of its continued commitment to campus safety and disaster preparedness.
Organized by the Office of the Vice President for Administrative Services through the General Services Office and the Safety, Health and Wellness Unit, the program trained 100 participants from various sectors of the University. Two sessions were held each day to ensure wider participation and provide focused, hands-on learning.
The training brought together faculty members, students, support staff, housekeeping and grounds personnel, and canteen concessionaires, highlighting a shared responsibility in maintaining a safe campus environment.
Participants gained practical knowledge on fire prevention and preparedness, different classes of fire and their corresponding extinguishers, situations where fire extinguishers should not be used, and essential fire safety practices. The sessions concluded with hands-on demonstrations, allowing attendees to apply what they learned in supervised exercises.
University officials underscored that initiatives such as this reflect DLSU-D’s dedication to fostering a disaster-resilient community equipped with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively in emergencies.
