The Lasallian Justice and Peace Commission (LJPC) convened its 2026 Assembly at the Retreat and Conference Center of De La Salle University–Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) from July 21 to 23, bringing together representatives from the Social Action Units of various De La Salle schools across the Philippines. Guided by the theme, “National Interest and Human Dignity: A Call to Lasallian Action,” the gathering aims to strengthen the Lasallian commitment to justice, peace, and social transformation.
The three-day assembly is spearheaded by the LJPC, with the Lasallian Community Development Center (LCDC) serving as the official secretariat. The opening program featured welcome remarks from Dr. Fernando Cabalsa, incoming Director of the Lasallian Ministry and Formation Office, followed by a message from Dr. Mayeth Gochuico, LCDC Director, who challenged delegates to reflect on the role of Lasallian institutions in nation-building while safeguarding human dignity.
Ms. Bonny Serra, LJPC Chair, outlined the assembly’s key objectives, including the evaluation of previous programs, identification of advocacy priorities, promotion of spiritual formation, and strengthening of collaboration among Lasallian institutions. Participants also received updates on mission-related initiatives from Lasallian Mission Services and partner organizations across the network.
A significant highlight of the first day was a lecture by Dr. Rommel Mazo, Director of the DLSU-D School of Governance, Public Service, and Corporate Leadership. His discussion on national politics and the economy examined issues of social, economic, educational, technological, and structural exclusion in the Philippines, encouraging participants to view current realities through a lens of inclusion and civic responsibility.
The assembly is expected to conclude with concrete action plans that will guide Lasallian schools in advancing advocacy initiatives and community programs that promote human dignity, social justice, and sustainable development throughout their respective communities.
