Two Grade 12 ABM students from DLSU-D Senior High School were among the Top 16 finalists in the recently concluded FedEx Express/JA International Trade Challenge Competition 2021.
Princess Lara Sofia Amoyo (ABM 21) and David Quindara (ABM 24) represented the University in this year's competition with the theme “empowering the next generation of Asia’s entrepreneurs."
In an interview with SHS publication La Estrela Verde, Amoyo said that they were tasked to conceptualize a marketing strategy for Pakistan so they devised a product fashioned from coffee ground fiber to address the existing issues in the country.
“[A]s an alternative to the common materials, [w]e chose (coffee ground fiber)...because...the pollution in Pakistan is caused by fast fashion (or) the quick turnover of designs (which affects) the state of their environment,” she said. She added that they opted to revolutinize what is already existing in the market rather than risk introducing a foreign product. "Sustainability and [q]uality...(became the center of our plan)...to provide benefits, not only to the people but also to the environment,” Quindara added.
This is the second time that DLSU-D Senior High School joined the national competition and also the second time that our students are one of the finalists in the competition.
A total of 1,548 students from 152 schools nationwide joined in this year's FedEx/JA ITC.
