DLSU-D School of Governance, Public Service & Corporate Leadership (SGPSCL), has launched the Barangay Governance for Resilient Environment (B-GREEN) program.
This program developed by SGPSCL is a 54-hour executive course designed to equip barangay officials with tools for climate action and sustainable governance.
It is part of DLSU-D’s BALAG series and developed in partnership with DILG Region IV-A and other agencies. It integrates modules on environmental planning, legal frameworks, disaster risk reduction, and community engagement.
The launch featured a keynote address by Senator Loren Legarda and insights from leaders of DILG, DOH, and OCD. DLSU-D President, Br. Iñigo R. Riola, FSC, emphasized the University’s commitment to extending its environmental advocacy to local communities, calling for collective action toward resilient futures.
“DLSU-D is blessed to be recognized as the greenest university in the country for 12 consecutive years,” Br. Riola said.
“Yet our responsibility extends far beyond our campus gates. We are called to walk alongside communities, especially our barangays, toward greener, healthier, and more resilient futures,” he added.
University officials, including Provost Dr. Christian George F. Francisco and Deputy Vice Provost Dr. Jhonny Ching, also delivered messages of support. Prof. Marlon Pareja presented the program framework, while graduate student Marielle Ferma led the pledge of commitment. Members of the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners likewise expressed support for B-GREEN’s implementation.
The training runs for five Saturdays at DLSU-D’s Ayuntamiento de Gonzalez, combining lectures, workshops, and hands-on planning.
