TEATRO Lasalliana will make history at De La Salle University–Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) as it is set to stage "Can’t DRAG Me Down: Queens for a Cause," the university’s first-ever drag event on February 13 at Ugnayang La Salle (ULS).
Under the artistic direction of Aliw Awards 2025 Best Special Events Director Nazer D. Salcedo, who also serves as the organization’s artistic director, the initiative showcases drag not only as entertainment but as a compelling platform for representation, storytelling, and empowerment.
The program spans an entire day, opening with a pride parade followed by a seminar designed to foster dialogue, particularly on HIV-AIDS awareness. Free HIV testing will also be made available to the public.
As evening approaches, student-formed drag houses from across Luzon will compete in a high-energy showcase of theatricality and transformation. The night will culminate in a grand drag extravaganza spotlighting stagecraft and unapologetic self-expression of these 48 queens.
More than a showcase, "Can’t DRAG Me Down: Queens for a Cause" is most importantly a fundraising initiative for the university’s Performing Arts Group (PAG) scholars.
The celebration welcomes prominent drag artists Maxie Andreison, Arizona Brandy, and Popstar Bench, alongside internationally acclaimed rising artists and P-pop group BGYO. Guest judges include actor and comedian Jon Santos, theater and film actress Lance Reblando, celebrity designer AJ Javier, and Theater Arts Professor Katte Sabate.
A total of 8 houses with 6 members each will vie for the much-coveted P50,000 grand prize. Through their extravagant and theatrical performances, competing houses must also embody one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, reflecting both the artistry and substance of their queenhood.
By blending performance with purpose, the event champions inclusion, awareness, and authentic self-expression while supporting student artists.
