The Computer Science Department (CSD) of the College of Information and Computer Studies (CICS) of De La Salle University–Dasmariñas formally launched its Computer Literacy Seminar under the CICS SIKAP Project (Skill Integration and Knowledge Advancement Program) on May 9, 2026.
The extension initiative aims to equip residents of Barangay San Antonio de Padua, Dasmariñas City with essential computer and digital literacy skills that can help them communicate effectively, access information, and perform basic digital tasks relevant to education, daily living, and livelihood opportunities.
Facilitated by seven Computer Science faculty members, the seminar series is being conducted over six consecutive Saturdays at DLSU-D for two learner groups composed of youth participants and multi-sectoral adult learners. During the first session, 12 participants attended out of the 25 pre-registered community learners.
Anchored on inclusive development, the initiative supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including decent work and economic growth, industry and innovation, reduced inequalities, peace and strong institutions, and partnerships for the goals. It also reflects Catholic Social Teaching principles on human dignity, the common good, and the dignity of work.
Through the CICS SIKAP Project, DLSU-D continues to strengthen its commitment to the Lasallian mission of informing minds, touching hearts, and transforming lives by extending knowledge and technology beyond the classroom and into communities where education can become a tool for empowerment and social transformation.
