Other Programs
Green for Life: One Million Trees and Beyond Project
To plant 1 million trees by year 2011 in celebration of the 100 years of Christian Brothers in the Philippines.
Ecological Solid Waste Management Committee
Some DLSP member schools in Luzon (DLS-D, DLS-CSB, DLS-AU, DLSU-M, DLS-C, PSI, DLS-L, DLS-Z) were inspired by Lasallian values, which aims to be a community of responsible stewards and educators committed to care and protect the environment for the enhancement of the quality of life of the present and future generations.
National Lasallian Eco-camp
It serves as a venue for the Lasallian community to socialize as well as to educate and make them aware on the importance of their environment.
With so much waste being generated daily, campus waste management is now acknowledged to be one of the most important concerns of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D). With the enactment of RA 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act), the DLSU-D Community through the center started to address its solid waste problem in accordance with the act. As a result:
- Burning of garbage is not done anymore with the incineration area converted into a Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
- The volume of solid waste has been dramatically reduced through resource recovery, recycling and composting.
- Monthly income is being generated by the center out of the recyclable materials for use in its other environmental projects.
However, the solid waste reduction program, which, is still far from perfect, will not become successful without the cooperation of all sectors.
