Microbiological Analysis of Water
In support of Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, De La Salle University–Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) continues its proactive initiative to monitor and maintain the safety and quality of the university’s water supply through periodic Microbiological Analysis of Water.
The Safety, Health, and Wellness Office conducts a campus-wide assessment that examines the physical, chemical, and microbiological properties of water used for drinking, sanitation, and daily campus operations. This process ensures compliance with the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (DOH PNSDW 2017) and international benchmarks set by the Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater.
Results from analyses conducted in August 2023, November 2023, and October 2024 show that all tested samples from various campus locations—including faucets, drinking fountains, and water purifiers—passed the microbiological standards. This confirms that the water within the DLSU-D campus remains safe and potable, with parameters for Total Coliform, Thermotolerant Coliform, and Heterotrophic Plate Count all within the acceptable regulatory limits.
By consistently monitoring its water systems, DLSU-D reinforces its commitment to providing a healthy and sustainable learning environment. This initiative not only safeguards the well-being of students, faculty, and staff but also promotes responsible water management practices, aligning with global sustainability efforts to ensure access to clean water for all.
