The College of Education Graduate Studies offers the Enhancement Program for Counselors and Paraprofessionals to provide deeper insights on the various theories and concepts in guidance and counseling; demonstrate understanding of planning, design, development and evaluation of guidance and counseling services as well as provide a deeper understanding of and ability to counsel people individually and in groups.

Enhancement Program for Counselors and Paraprofessionals
The College of Education Graduate Studies, in its effort to make significant contribution to educators, counselors, and paraprofessionals in the CALABARZON offers this enhancement program for Special Term (June to July) 2019. The program shall be facilitated by a pool of graduate school faculty experts and practitioners from the field of Guidance and Counseling.
DLSU-D offers its venue and facilities to let the participants maximize their learning. The five-day enhancement program shall make use of educational technology such as the internet and the Schoolbook. All reading materials, videos and assessments shall be posted online. Classroom interactions will take the form of simulations and role playing.
Participants of this program may include MA students taking up Guidance and Counseling who are preparing for the comprehensive examinations or who have stopped for quite a time and need to refresh their knowledge or those who have already completed their MA or PhD degree in Guidance and Counseling or Counseling Psychology. This program is open not only for DLSU-D students but to non-La Salle guidance counselors, students and graduates as well. A minimal fee of P4,000.00 shall be charged to each participant.
Program Content
Module 1: GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING IN RETROSPECT |
The various philosophical, psychological, and sociological foundations of counseling will be given focus in this module. It also discusses the nature, purpose and history of guidance and counseling together with the principles of counseling. |
Module 2: GROUP FACILITATING SKILLS |
Theories of group development, group facilitating techniques as well as group design are discussed. Participants will be made to demonstrate skills and will be evaluated. |
Module 3: CAREER DEVELOPMENT |
Techniques of gathering information about careers and strategies for matching personal as well as career requirements to arrive at a career choice will be focused on. Theories of career development will also be given emphasis. |
Module 4: COUNSELING PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT |
The session will introduce the participants to various aspects of organization, administration, and supervision of counseling programs and services. It shall also focus on the design/development of counseling programs that cater to the needs of the clients. |
Module 5: ENHANCING COUNSELING COMPETENCIES |
This area is designed to equip participants with basic counseling skills. Simulation and critique of counseling sessions will be given emphasis |
Module 6: PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION |
The subject area focuses on the basic concepts of psychological testing, validation and establishing evidence of reliability, norming as well as construction and use of non-test techniques. |

Shiftees/Transferees
- must fill up and submit a shifting form (for shiftees only).
- must pass the Admissions test given by the CSA (for transferees only).
- must have a grade point average of at least 2.25 or its equivalent with no failing grade in any subject or as approved by the COEd Admissions Committee.
- must submit a certificate of good moral character from the chair/associate dean/dean and guidance counselor of the college where they were previously enrolled.
- must pass the interview conducted by the COEd Admissions Committee.
- must submit their academic folders.
CTP Students
- must fill up the application form for CTP with 2 pieces of 2x2 pictures.
- must submit a photocopy of their transcript of records (TOR).
- must pass the Admissions test given by the CSA.
Foreign Students
- must meet all requirements of the CSA.
- must pass the interview conducted by the COEd Admissions Committee.
Returnees
- must present the approved leave of absence (LOA) form.
- must enroll in the curriculum which they originally tool provided there are only 48 units left. However, if there are more than 48 units left, they should enroll in the new curriculum followed in the college.
- Pre-registration Period: Until June 3, 2019
- Registration: June 8, 2019; 7:00 am -8:00 am
- A minimal fee of P4,000.00 shall be charged to each participant
